My Year of is an independent publication launched in August 2025 by Julie Arendt. It's set up as a combo newsletter / blog. If the hosting on Ghost does what it ought to do, this site should have an RSS feed that works with your favorite blog reader and have an email subscription that will send you my latest thoughts if you want to receive things that way.

What is My Year of?

My Year of is a place to collect my thoughts during a year of my work life as an academic librarian that includes coordinating programming related to generative AI.

I read and hear a lot of things about AI that don't sound right to me. This blog is where I'm working through my thoughts as I encounter those ideas. Maybe if I force myself to articulate my thoughts here, I can sound like less of a doofus when people ask, and I answer with a lot of ambivalence.
